Caño Island
Caño Island: Costa Rica’s Marine Sanctuary for Diving, Snorkeling & Big Game Fishing
Caño Island is a biological reserve 10 miles (16 km) west of Punta Llorona on the northern Península de Osa. It rises steeply to a flat top of 123 metres (404 ft) in height.
The island and surrounding marine area of 52.01 square kilometres (20.08 sq mi) and has been established as a biological reserve with a permanent ranger station on the island.
Marine life includes manta rays, dolphins, killer whales, sea turtles, whales, turtles, sharks and a wide variety of gamefish including wahoo, yellowfin tuna, grouper, amberjack and snapper.
This is a world class place for both diving and snorkeling and is popular with tourists. Coast of Costa Rica. In fact, the reserve contains five coral platforms that range from 0.8 to 4.2 hectares in size.
Very Big Game good fishing exists just outside the reserves boundary.
